MAN Trucks and Bus is creating a new ‘Telematics and Digital Solutions’ department in order to expand its digitization and telematics services. With this move, the commercial vehicles manufacturer is aiming to make these critical services one of the key areas of its business strategy.
MAN has already appointed its future head, Markus Lipinsky, who will be directly reporting to Joachim Drees, Chief Executive Officer of Man Trucks and Bus AG. Drees said that he was thrilled at Mr. Lipinsky’s appointment and commented that, “we are adding a renowned expert in digital networking to our ranks. His outstanding expertise will help MAN take up a leading position within the industry in matters of digitisation—a key area for the future.”
Drees also added that owing to the contemporary market needs, selling top-quality trucks and buses is not enough as there is an ever increasing demand for digital solutions, ergonomic telematics services and networked commercial vehicles. Thus, MAN is now focusing on these aspects despite the precarious economic climate.
Markus Lipinsky previously worked as a cloud specialist and CEO at software company Actano GmbH which provides portfolio and project management solutions for automotive and aviation industries. In 2012, he was honoured with the Frost & Sullivan Growth, Innovation & Leadership Award for the successful implementation of his global growth strategy.
