Mahindra in Battle to Design Delivery Van for US Postal Services
Published On Oct 17, 2016
While we Indians crib about the quality of vehicles used in India, The United States of America Postal Service (USPS) has selected Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer Mahindra in the competition to develop a new generation delivery vehicle for it.
Mahindra will be competing against six others commercial vehicle manufacturers in order to win the contract. The proposal that Mahindra had submitted to USPS lays importance to mileage, safety and ergonomics.
Mahindra has an upper hand in the competition as it has a subsidiary by the name of Mahindra North American Technical Center (MNATC) in the US. The subsidiary will not only help the company in designing the delivery vehicle in accordance with the local US conditions, but will also expose many experts from Mahindra to international levels of competition existing in USA.
Mahindra is the latest addition to the list of many other Indian automakers who have already made their presence felt on the global scale. The popular passenger car and commercial vehicle brand manufactures some of the highest selling passenger as well as commercial vehicles in India. The company is also riding on the success waves in the SCV segment where Mahindra Jeeto has overtaken the sales of Tata Motors’ Ace and the postal delivery van design could well be inspired from the same.
There is no denying the fact that Mahindra vehicles are famous for their low maintenance and high life qualities. In fact these qualities have been the crux of increased Mahindra vehicle sales in the country.
Mahindra’s chances of winning the contract may increase if it sticks to the game plan it follows in its country of origin. Anything fancy and the Indian CV giant may lose, but whatever happens Mahindra has already made us proud. Go Mahindra Go.
