Logistics Firms Lure Truckers with Benefits, Eye Long-Term Growth

Logistic companies that aid in inter-city transport are now going out of the way to provide benefits to their truckers. Companies such as BlackBuck and Trukky are now luring truckers by giving discounts in food, fuel and providing other minor benefits, with the hope of drawing more workers into the organised trucking sector. Along with this, they believe that such gestures would help to strengthen the entire trucking ecosystem in the long-run.
Lobb, a long haulage logistics corporation based in Bangalore, has integrated its vehicles with a navigation system. This would enable truckers to locate and reach their destinations without hassle, and also give them easier access to service stations and eateries.
Based in Ahmedabad, another company, Trukky aims to provide easier fuel payments to its truckers with a unique Trukky wallet, for availing fuel discount benefits. The company has cut agreements with small truck parking areas in Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad, allowing their truckers a more strain-free parking experience at a lower expense. According to the company, these parking regions also come with the benefits of discounted food and resting areas for the truckers' relief.
Subhasish Das, founder of Trukky believes that these small expressions of kindness would feed into his overall goal of improving logistics through his firm. Small benefits of this kind would create a stronger bond between the employees and the company, and this, Das believes, would help to optimize efficiency and performance. “This makes them to work with us (organized players) on a long-term basis and they too get a sense of job satisfaction,” said Das. Das also envisions such tie-ups with restaurants in the future for a broader package of benefits for his truckers.
