Innumerable Inquiries for Blazo Trucks Promise Growth For Mahindra
Published On Mar 26, 2016
The 6,500 inquiries for the Blazo trucks received by Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD) last month proves the immense popularity of the range among Indian fleet owners. This new heavy truck commercial series comes with a FuelSmart technology that promises around three to eight percent additional mileage over trucks by other competitive brands, which might be the reason for the outpour in inquiries.
Mahindra is banking heavily on the Blazo range and predicts that the new trucks will help fulfil its goal of grabbing around seven percent of the market share in the coming years. Currently, Mahindra’s share in the commercial vehicle arena is slightly more than three percent.
The Blazo series saw its first regional launch in Hyderabad on the 23rd of this month. Speaking on the occasion, Mahindra's MTBD chief executive officer Nalin Mehta, said, "The response has been good and deliveries are growing steadily as we have also promised full refund if our patented FUELSMART engine technology do not deliver the promise of superior mileage than any other existing vehicle used by the customers."
Mehta added that the HCV industry is experiencing a good growth period and is rising on a 35 percent year-on-year basis. Even though the market is dominated by Tata and Ashok Leyland, Mahindra’s sales are growing at the rate of 65 percent, which is almost double the industry trend. Taking this factor and Blazo’s popularity into account, the company is confident of doubling its market share within the next couple of years. Mahindra also plans to export the Blazo series trucks to Africa next year.
Mahindra is offering the Blazo series variants of trucks, tippers and tractor trailers in 55 variants between tonnage range of 25 to 49.
The company, which is also looking for an entry into the big size bus segment, will soon be developing intermediate light commercial vehicles of 8-12 tonne capacity in which it has invested around INR 600 crores.
