Higher Demand For Pickups Powers Mahindra sales volume in December 2022

The popular Bolero pikup range continues to attract new buyers
Mahindra and Mahindra, one of India’s top commercial vehicle makers, witnessed robust demand for its entire commercial vehicle portfolio in the last month of the calendar year 2022. The leader in the small and light truck categories with the most popular brands that are preferred by customers such as the Bolero pikup, Supro Profit Truck, and Jeeto.
The wholesale number released by the firm points towards a higher demand for key trucks across the small and light trucks segment, due to the demand for last-mile cargo delivery across urban and rural parts of India.
In the December 2022 sales number, Mahindra’s light truck segment (2-3.5-tonne GVW), posted a total sale of 16,170 units increasing by 29%, followed by light trucks (above 2-tonne GVW) to 3,031 units by 7%. The light, medium, and heavy trucks segment recorded a sales volume of 879 units, a bump of 51%. While the three-wheelers (including the fast-growing electric vehicle) category sold 5,052 units, a growth of a massive 104%. The total export in the month remained flat at 3,100 units.
Speaking on the company’s performance in the month, Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., “Continuing interest from our customers have led to strong demand across our portfolio in December2022. We have seen growth of 61% in our Passenger Vehicles and a 45% overall growth. Due to continuing international disruptions and increasing coronavirus cases, we are keeping a close watch on the dynamic supply chain situation.”
