GST Effect: BharatBenz Slashes Prices By Up To 2.5%

BharatBenz commercial vehicles will now be more affordable with the company passing on GST benefits by reducing prices by 0.4 to 2.5 %

Commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturers have warmed up to the implementation of GST since demonetization and the transition to BS-IV norms were major setbacks for the CV industry. In accordance with the same, Daimler-owned commercial vehicle manufacturer, BharatBenz, has also passed on the benefits from the implementation of Goods & Services Tax (GST) to its customers. The reduction is on the MRP and ranges between 0.4 and 2.5 per cent depending on the state and the model.

Speaking on the occasion, Erich Nesselhauf, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “With GST in place, we expect additional momentum at BharatBenz, which we intend to bolster as we reduce prices to pass on GST benefits to our customers.”

Nesselhauf also expects borderless pan India transportation to improve the overall efficiency of logistic companies in line with an introduction of more modern and fuel-efficient trucks.

This announcement comes in after Tata Motors recently announced a massive drop of up to 8.2 per cent in the prices of its commercial vehicles segment.

First unveiled in February 2011 in India, the company celebrated its market launch in September 2012 in the country. The brand crossed the first major milestone of 10,000 units in April 2014. With the refresh of the medium-duty range in 2016 and the all-new heavy-duty range in 2017, BharatBenz updated its entire truck portfolio within a short span. BharatBenz products are sold and serviced through a pan-India network of more than 130 touch points.
