Eicher and Amazon aim to introduce a fleet of up to 1,000 electric trucks with deck lengths ranging from 8 to 24 feet for enhancing e-commerce delivery operations led by Amazon India.

Eicher Trucks and Buses have announced a collaboration with Amazon under which Eicher will integrate up to 1,000 zero-emission electric trucks with deck lengths ranging from 8 to 24 feet into Amazon’s delivery operations in India over the next five years, to enhance Amazon’s middle-mile and last-mile delivery operations.

Under the collaboration with Eicher Trucks and Buses, Amazon will initially deploy 50 Eicher electric trucks in major hubs like Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram over the coming months. The Eicher electric trucks will be based on its established electric vehicle platform already in operation in bus applications.

Additionally, the trucks with deck lengths ranging from approximately 8 feet to 24 feet will also come equipped with customised cargo stacking configurations and will feature fast and slow charging options to meet the needs of challenging fleet operations.
