Published On Jul 20, 2016
Eicher is known for its durable and contemporary commercial vehicles and one of the most prominent products is the Eicher Terra 25. This vehicle was rolled in the year 2012 under the flagship of VECV, a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited. VECV is known for manufacturing fuel efficient, heavy duty, and value enhanced trucks, and has contributed significantly in the commercial vehicle domain in India.
Priced from INR 29.9 lakh (ex-showroom), this tipper has been popular in the segment since its launch. Titled as the toughest tipper in the segment, Eicher Terra 25 is a construction tipper with a GVW of 25,000 kg and has been built specifically for tough terrains. This Eicher tipper has been specifically designed for use in segments such as mining and construction.
With a wheelbase of 4000 mm and a body capacity of 14 CuM, the vehicle can carry a payload of 14750 kg. The vehicle also has a more than decent gradeability of 27%, enough to help the driver maneuver the tipper easily on tough, uphill terrain, even when loaded to its full capacity. The vehicle is equipped with the proven Cummins B5.9 BS-III engine that is known for its fuel efficiency, higher engine hours of operation and durability. A good displacement of 5883 cc, a max power of 183.3 bhp power @ 2500 rpm and 685 Nm torque @ 1400 rpm coupled with a good gradeability provide superior uptime and better pulling power, leading to more trips and improving business.
The driveline is also supported by a 6-speed gearbox, a manual transmission and a 380 mm clutch with clutch booster.
Stability wise, the 6x4 tipper fares really well in the segment. With a turning radius of 7900 mm and a wheelbase of 4000 mm, this vehicle performs decently in sharp turns, curves and bends, staying steady on uneven roads even when fully loaded. The ground clearance of 252 mm takes the vehicle over bumpy paths and off-road conditions. Semi-elliptical laminated leaf springs front and rear suspension guarantees safety of the cargo when the vehicle is moving with heavy loads.
VECV vehicles also come with the added advantage of enhanced service coverage and maximum uptime. Apart from hundreds of authorized service centers, the company also provides on-spot service to tippers at specific locations.
