DICV, the parent company of BharatBenz, has registered domestic sales growth of 37 percent with a total of 14000 units sold in 2015. The company said that the demand for BharatBenz products, especially in heavy duty segment, has increased in 2015.
Erich Nesselhauf, MD and CEO, Daimler, said, "2015 has been another successful year for us. With our portfolio of modern trucks, we have powered ahead on our growth course domestically in India and in our export business. This success was made possible thanks to the excellent contributions of the entire team and our partners."
In May 2015, the company had invested INR 425 crores in expanding Oragadam plant's manufacturing operations and had also made an entry into the bus segment with Mercedes-Benz Super-High-Deck (SHD) luxury coach and BharatBenz staff buses.
DICV also claimed that the exports of the Indian-made parts have crossed the four million mark. Besides manufacturing BharatBenz brand, DICV also exports FUSO-branded trucks.
Speaking on the company's prospect for 2016, Mr. Nesselhauf said, "With important new BharatBenz product generations hitting the market in 2016, we are committed to sustainably grow our business as part of Daimler Trucks Asia. Both in the medium and heavy-duty segment we will once more raise standards and customer value. At the same time, Indian-made FUSO trucks will play a key role in opening up important growth markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America."
