DICV Crosses New Milestone, Exports 5,000 Units

In less than three years of starting its export operations, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has reached a new milestone by reporting export numbers of 5,000 units. Currently, DICV has been exporting India-built trucks under the Fuso brand to commercial vehicle markets in more than 20 countries including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
The Indian subsidiary of the German-based global conglomerate Daimler AG, DICV, has reported steady growth in its volumes. Marc Llistosella, Head of Daimler Trucks Asia, said that the company is systematically building the Fuso brand in key commercial vehicle markets across the globe.
Showing his enthusiasm at this new achievement, Erich Nesselhauf, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “Our successful domestic BharatBenz business is one pillar of DICV’s strategic role, exports of vehicles and production material is another. We are proud of 5,000 trucks produced for FUSO and more than nine million parts exported to other units within Daimler Trucks worldwide – these are the kind of success stories which underline the potentials of Make in India.”
The company’s Fuso range of trucks comprises of four medium duty trucks within 9 to 16 tonnes and 12 heavy-duty trucks within 16 to 49 tonnes. These vehicles are subjected to rigorous tests in order to meet the diverse requirements of foreign markets. Apart from riding comfort, the Fuso range is quite popular owing to the brand’s focus on fuel efficiency and cater to a diverse range of applications.
Kuwait and Peru are DICV’s latest addition to its export market. The manufacturer plans to extend its reach to 10 other markets within this year, as per a company statement.
Apart from fully built trucks and parts, DICV has already exported hundreds of bus chassis produced at its bus plant located on the premises of DICV’s manufacturing facility in Oragadam near Chennai.
