Published On Apr 22, 2016By Lisa Pradhan

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG has opened a new headquarter building in North Portland, Oregon. It is a nine-storied building, whose construction work started two years ago in July 2014. The company terms this as a milestone in its corporate history in North America.

“As a leader in the industry with a reputation for high standards in engineering and sustainable practices, we felt it was important to have our headquarters campus reflect those values. As one of Portland’s largest employers, we will now have a state-of-the-art work environment to inspire the great talent in our organization and to continue contributing to long-term prosperity in Portland,” said Mr. Martin Daum, CEO of DTNA.

Located in the company's campus, this new building has a stretch of 268,000 square-foot and it will accommodate all the DTNA employees. It will also provide work space for new positions for the company's future business plans. Daimler spent over $150 million for setting up this headquarter building.

Glumac's chief sustainability strategist, Mr. Nicole Isle said in a statement: "With the new headquarters building, Daimler achieved what only one-percent of office buildings nationwide can claim: the design energy efficiency is sky high with an Energy Star score of 99 out of 100. The new Daimler building is targeting LEED Platinum certification, a rigorous green building goal that Daimler was committed to from the start. It's a rare achievement with only two corporate headquarters buildings in Portland having achieved Platinum Certification.”

Daimler also constructed a four-story parking garage in the campus and set up electric charging stations. Furthermore, Daimler has also constructed a landscaped surface parking lot on the corner of N. Channel Avenue and Anchor Street. The company has utilized emerging small businesses and women for 20 percent of the construction work.
