Daimler is the King of Brazilian CV Industry, Again

Daimler has regained the number one rank in the Brazilian truck and bus market. The Actros truck from Mercedes-Benz witnessed a growth of over 90 percent till November this year.
The year 2016 marks the 60th anniversary year for the automaker, and it could have not been better for Daimler than claiming leadership in the most important CV market in Latin-America. Daimler, with over 29 percent trucks share, currently leads the Brazilian truck market. Its bus division also accounts for over 59 percent share in the country's CV market.
Stefan Buchner, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said, “2016 was a challenging year in Brazil. We are proud we regained the number one position in this market. This shows we know what our customers in Brazil want and offer them the right products. Meeting the demands of our customers is more important than ever before."
Daimler successfully sold 11,200 trucks, 4,800 buses, and 4,700 vans during January-November 2016 time period. Mr Buchner added, “Our commitment to Brazil remains strong and we continue to invest in our market presence. We are ready for when the market recovers.” The Daimler group had announced to invest around $ 490 million in the Brazilian market. This investment as per Daimler is inclined towards new product developments meant for the country. The CV manufacturer had already invested a sum equivalent to INR 5,350 crores in Brazil during 2010 and 2015.
Mercedes-Benz had recently launched Vito and Sprinter in the Brazilian market. Both the vehicles fall in the LCV category and have been eagerly welcomed by the consumers in Brazil. And with the launch of new Atego line and Accelo 1316, Daimler has forayed into the medium sized truck market as well.
