Compare Tata Super Ace Mint with Ashok Leyland Dost

Both Tata Super Ace Mint and Ashok Leyland Dost have quite a few similarity in terms of looks and features. Starting at an ex-showroom price of INR 5.1 lakh, Tata Super Ace Mint draws its advantage from being part of the trusted Ace family. Ashok Leyland Dost, priced between INR 4.7 lakh to 5.2 lakh, has already garnered loyal customers and has firmly built its base in the market.
The two mini trucks, Tata Super Ace Mint and Ashok Leyland Dost belong to the currently dominating segment, the small commercial vehicle sector, of the CV industry. While Ashok Leyland Dost conforms to the BS-IV emission norms, Super Ace Mint has BS-III emission norms.
Also, engine specifications of both the pickups are different. With a displacement of 1396 cc, Super Ace Mint has a Direct injection common rail engine generating a max power of 70 bhp @ 4000 rpm and a max torque of 140 Nm @ 1800-3000 rpm. Dost has an additional displacement of 82 cc and generates a lesser power (42.51 bhp @ 3300 rpm) and slightly higher torque (157.5 Nm @ 1600-2400 rpm) as compared with Super Ace Mint. Both the vehicles have manual transmission and fuel tank of similar capacity.
Maneuverability wise also, Ashok Leyland Dost scores much more than Tata Super Ace Mint. While the former has a turning radius of 5100 mm, Dost has a turning radius of 4800 mm. However, Super Ace Mint owners have a greater advantage over Dost users in terms of gradeability (Super Ace Mint’s gradeability is 9% higher than Dost) and max speed (Super Ace Mint’s max speed is 125 km/h whereas Dost goes to a maximum of 90 km/hr).
The two pickups have similar design (day cabin), wheelbase and ground clearance. In terms of payload capacity, Dost, with 1250 kgs, ranks higher than Super Ace Mint (1000 kgs). Cabin interiors of both the vehicles include power steering, air conditioning and adjustable driver seat. The tiltable steering of Dost, which has not been included in Super Ace Mint, bring the former a step ahead in terms of cabin features.
When talking about safety, both the vehicles rank equally. Super Ace Mint has disc brakes and independent, strut type front suspension. Dost is equipped with hydraulic brakes and transverse leaf spring suspension. Front axles of both the vehicles are double wishbone type.
