Truck enthusiasts in the southernmost states of India are in for a treat this August as a three-day “Truck, Trailer and Tyre Expo” is scheduled to be held in Coimbatore between the 6th and 9th of the month. The expo is to be conducted at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in the city and aims to promote the market for commercial vehicles, namely, trucks, trailers and tyres that offer immense potential for the Indian market.
The event is being organized by Media Day Marketing, Bengaluru, in association with the Ministry of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Government of India and 25 other related organizations. As per the director of Media Day Marketing, Rambhau Soundalkar, this expo will be the first of its kind in the country comprising the truck, tipper, trailer, tyre, and OEMs segment, and other allied industries.
Soundalkar said that the Indian Commercial Vehicle industry is currently witnessing sizeable investments by OEMs towards upgrading their product portfolio, introducing new models and expanding manufacturing capacities. This expo will be highlighting these aspects and much more from the industry. Lorry owners and other stakeholders will also get an insight of the developments happening in this space, as customers do not completely understand the utility value of such vehicles.
Apart from domestic stakeholders, global technology development companies are also showing interest in showcasing their product at the truck expo. The upcoming event has already drawn dozens of participants and as of now, 80 stall bookings have been confirmed. Organizers are predicting stall bookings by another 35-40 participants in the near future.
Event organizers have however kept the details of the participating bodies under the wraps as of now. What remains to be seen is whether the participant list includes the kingpins of the commercial vehicle industry such as Tata, Mahindra, Eicher, and Ashok Leyland.
