India’s first heavy-duty truck goes up to 1400 km in one full tank
Taking a step towards alternative fuel commercial vehicles, Blue Energy Motors after unveiling India’s first heavy-duty LNG-powered truck earlier this year has now deployed them for commercial operations. The firm has supplied LNG trucks to JK Lakshmi Cement, one of India’s leading cement companies to run them for long-haul transportation of raw materials across India.
The 4x2 tractor comes with a 54-tonne and is powered by a 6.7L, 6- cylinder engine which produces a massive 280hp of power at 1000 Nm of torque, tuned with a 9-speed mechanical gearbox. The top aggregate of the tractor includes a hub reduction axle, the suspension at the front is parabolic and the rear semi-elliptical type, the front, and rear brakes are drum type, a 120Ah battery with 24V, and a 990L single fuel tank made of stainless steel. A 4-point suspended, tiltable, fully air-conditioned cabin with a sleeper berth.
The gradeability is 25.19%, a maximum speed of 80 kmph, turning circle diameter meter of 15.1 meters. The tractor’s gross carrying weight of 54 tonnes and its kerb weight of 7,117 kg.
In a flag-off ceremony, held at JK Lakshmi Cement’s Sirohi plant in Rajasthan, the first fleet of LNG trucks left for their clinker grinding unit at Surat.
According to Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO, Blue Energy Motors, ‘’Sustainability should not be a choice anymore, but a compulsory way of life. The infra industry is very closely connected to trucks, and such adoptions institute trust and in-still confidence that will eventually pave the way towards a carbon-neutral environment. Our trucks have been designed and conceptualised, keeping in mind the Indian conditions and climate requirements. It’s the best immediate solution to pollution caused by the heavy duty-vehicle sector.“
