Published On Apr 06, 2020By Trucksdekho Editorial Team

BharatBenz's BS6 trucks are here. We deep-dived to check out what is on the offer across different tonnage segments, the engine options and more.

Indian automotive market is now BS6 compliant; all the trucks available for retail sales now only come with the stringent emission norms. Truck makers have been getting ready to make the BS6 trucks available for retail. BharatBenz is among the first full-range truck makers in India to formally introduce its BS6 trucks. The retail sales likely to kick-start once the nationwide lockdown gets lifted later this month.

BharatBenz started the retail sales of BS6 truck in Delhi and NCR in January as the BS6 fuel is already made available in the region. The first batch of BS6 trucks has already covered a substantial distance on Indian road proving their durability and reliability. As part of validation and testing, these trucks have covered over 5 million km in every possible terrain. The firms say the new modern truck range is designed and engineered with globally proven technologies for the Indian duty cycles.

BS6 portfolio

BharatBenz has now made its complete range available for customers; the truck portfolio split into four sub-segments. The medium-duty (10-16T), heavy-duty-haulage (28-42T), heavy-duty construction (19-35T) and heavy-duty tractor-trailer (40-55T).

The trucks are equipped with 'profit technology' which stands on five key objectives, namely: best in class fuel efficiency, superior safety & comfort, unmatched reliability, lowest maintenance costs

The BS6 trucks use the globally proven 'SCR only' technology in the after-treatment system, this, the company says is similar to its earlier BS4 products, with marginal changes on the engine.

Reiterating its commitment to modernise Indian truck market, BharatBenz has developed the new trucks for the highest productivity and to provide competitive total-cost-of-ownership to its Indian customers.

It promises up to 10% higher fuel efficiency, up to 6% low maintenance cost, up to 20% longer service intervals, up to 8 years real warranty, up to 10 years AMC.

Let's look at each of the categories:

MDT-Haulage and Tipper

The medium-duty truck range starting from 10T GVW  to 16T GVW comprising the haulage and construction applications. This segment finds applications into intra and intercity with a variety of cargo needs.

BharatBenz has seven reliable products into this category to deliver on all the key haulage needs of customers. The category starts from lowest tonnage 1015R, then follows to 1215R, 1215RE, 1217C, 1415R, 1415RE and 1617R an impressive product range into the growing and high potential intermediate commercial vehicle in India. The GVW ranges between 10.6T, 11.9T, 14.5T and 16.2T

The company now has a 4D34i engine with two power options: The 110 KW (150HP) power with 460 Nm of torque and 125 Kw (180HP) of power and 520 Nm of torque with a precise engine option to each truck considering the application.

HDT R -Haulage

The heavy-duty multi-axle haulage truck range covers the vital long-distance transportation segment between 28-42T segments with 28T and 35T models.

Here the company is offering two of its promising products-the 2823R and 3523R haulage trucks. The GVW of the two models is 28T and35T.

The haulage range gets the OMG926 engine model with a maximum power of 180 KW (230HP ) and 850 Nm of torque for shipping rated loads for long several distance haulage applications.

HDT-Construction Tippers

Another important segment in the heavy-duty segment is the tippers for construction, mining and other applications in the tonnage of 19-35T. BharatBenz has developed a robust and extensive portfolio in the tipper segment. The heavy-duty tipper segment encompasses models such as 1913C, 2823C, 2828C, 2828CH, 3528C 3528CM.

The tippers, unlike the haulage segment, are deployed in challenging operating conditions with severe performance needs. BharatBenz has got OM 926 BS6 engine models for the tipper segment with two power options: The 180 KW (230 HP) and 850 Nm for the medium range and the 210 KW (280HP ) and massive 1100 Nm of torque for the heavy tipper applications.

HDT-Tractors

The heavy-duty tractor-trailer is yet another critical segment in the overall long-haul transportation industry. BharatBenz's tractor-trailer range covers the upper limit tonnage between 40-55 for long-distance cargo shipments primarily through the fully-build trailer, flat trailer or cargo trailer.

This tractor-trailer segment in India is growing rapidly over the last few years as the superior infrastructure boosting the average truck speeds, along with the advent of Goods and Service Tax, has propelled the hub-and-spoke transportation model. Thus, the tractor-trailers are now increasingly deployed for the long-distance rated loads and there is increasing increase interest among organised fleet operators in India to get such primes movers.

The BharatBenz now has three premium trailers namely the 4023TT, 5028T and 5528TT. The primes movers come with OMG 926 engine model with 180KW (230 HP) of power and 850 Nm of torque and 210 KW (280HP) of power and gigantic 1100 Nm of torque to ship rated loads for long distances.

Stay tuned for more information on each truck.
