The firm registered strong growth across medium, heavy and light truck segments in the month
Ashok Leyland reported its monthly sales number for May 2022, registering strong growth across truck segments. The major players in heavy trucks in India sold a total of 12,458 units in the domestic market including 7,268 units (up 380%) of heavy trucks and buses and 5,190 units (355%) of light trucks. The high jump in sales appears in the month due to the low base last year due to the Covid related slowdown in the market. The cumulative sales (April and May 2022) stand at 23,655 units as compared to 10,699 units in the same period last year, an increase of 121%.
Ashok Leyland AVTR range of medium and heavy trucks has been witnessing traction among top fleet operators for long-haul transportation needs. Similarly, the light trucks like Dost+ and Dost CNG and Partner 4-tyre and 6-tyre are also finding buyers for last-mile deliveries.
As the economy is getting back on its feet from the pandemic, demand for trucks is now accelerating across light, medium and heavy truck segments. This is reflected in the monthly sale reported by truck makers, and companies are hoping to continue strong performance over this fiscal year.
