Ashok Leyland ropes in new distributor in South Africa

Aiming to strengthen and expand its presence in the key Southern African markets, the firm appointed ETG Logistics as a new distributor to market and sell trucks in 6 key markets of the region.

Ashok Leyland, India’s top truck maker, announced a new distribution partnership with ETG group’s logistics, warehousing and distribution vertical, ETG Logistics (ETGL) for the South African market.

ETG is a global conglomerate operating across various segments, with a deep focus on uplifting Sub-Saharan Africa. An agreement was signed between the two companies for the cooperation in the Distribution of products in the Southern African region. ETGL will operate dealerships for Ashok Leyland in 6 key Southern African countries as part of this strategic cooperation.

ETG group’s extensive connections in these markets will complement our growth plans. We are already present in most of the East and West African countries. We now have the right product portfolio with Best in Class TCO to cater to requirements of this market and provide an excellent value proposition for customers”, said Amandeep Singh, Head of International Operations, Ashok Leyland.

Overseas markets and export is a key growth pillar for Ashok Leyland to expand its brand to garner substantial business over the next few years, and to accomplish this goal, the company has been expanding into the key strategic market across the Middle East, Africa, CIS countries and South America, all of these market are similar to India in terms of product and operating cycles. Ashok Leyland aims to spread its brands across the globe to become a top truck player worldwide taking on some of the most recognized global truck brands.
