Demoed at Auto Expo 2016 as a novelty, Ashok Leyland Guru is all set to get launched in the next few weeks. A modern day hauler integrating state-of-the art technology, Guru would be joining forces with Ashok Leyland Ecommet and Boss series trucks in the intermediate commercial vehicle (ICV) segment. With this launch, the company is planning to expand its footprint in the ICV niche which currently accounts for 30,000 units sales per year.
As of now, Ashok Leyland has just a basic presence in the niche which in near future is expected to grow exponentially. Talking about Guru, it offers best in class payload capacity with lowest kerb weight. The design, looks, and leisure level have also been taken care of with aluminum alloy wheels and load body fitments. The brand’s tested and trusted H-Series CRS engine powers this truck and gives class leading mileage as claimed by the company. Fitted with systems like FIP, this Ashok Leyland truck achieves lower maintenance cost and long service intervals.
About Guru, Mr. Vinod Dasari, MD, Ashok Leyland, said, “We traditionally have a lesser market share in the ICV segment. To strengthen this, we are launching the Sunshine bus and Guru in an attempt to fill the gaps in this key product segment. This will further improve our market share in the segment.”
While the launch is expected to be done sometime during July 2016, the company will be revealing the details such as price, dimensions and specifications subsequently, which, as of now, are under the wraps.
