Ashok Leyland Brings India its First Deming Prize

Ashok Leyland has become the first Indian commercial vehicle maker to be honoured with the Deming Prize. The CV brand has been recognized for the award for its Pantanagar manufacturing facility located in Uttarakhand.
Showing his excitement, Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said, “Housing the latest technology and processes, our Pantnagar plant is a fully-integrated plant capable of manufacturing all future-ready products across trucks and buses. Consistent quality, technology, innovation and robust processes are the pillars which have helped us garner international recognition, and customer satisfaction."
This is the first time that Deming Prize has been awarded to a bus and truck manufacturing facility in the world. Ashok Leyland has not only become the first Indian CV brand to receive the award, but is also the only CV maker outside of Japan to be acknowledged with the same.
What is Deming Prize?
The Deming Prize represents a global quality award which is meant to recognize individuals for their valuable contributions towards the field of Total Quality Management (TQM), and also businesses that are successfully able to implement TQM. It falls among the oldest, and is the most widely recognized quality award to exist in the world. Deming Prize was established in 1951 by Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE).
