Scania Launches Next-Gen Trucks with Several Advanced Features

Scania has recently launched its next-generation of trucks with significant additions in safety, comfort, and performance features. The new S and R cab family, introduced withrollover curtain airbags for the first time, come with stronger, safer and aerodynamically optimized designs. The unique cab range has been introduced keeping in mind demanding and varying customer requirements and will encompass 24 different cab models that will provide scope of customized solutions for each and every customer operation spanning fuel efficiency, cabin comfort and payload capacity.
The new Scania series come with various advancements in powertrain and design.
Performance: The vehicles come with user-operated, adjustable air deflectors that aid in alignment between cab and trailer roofs, thus helping reduce aerodynamic drag. The enhanced combustion chamber and new injectors improve fuel efficiency. The powertrain also ensures additional savings owing to a higher working temperature and thermostatic cooling. The layshift braking system shortens the actual gearshift time and maintains turbo pressure.
Safety: The vehicles have been tested for optimum safety on the roads. A larger surface area of the glass, lowered positioning of the dash board and improved design of A-pillars enhances the visibility of the driver. Slip-proof entry steps ensure comfortable and safe cab entry and exit. For the first time in the commercial vehicle segment, rollover curtain airbags are integrated to the ceiling to prevent the driver getting crushed in case the truck overturns. Also, new model rear view mirrors have a wide angle function and provide optimum visibility. Most importantly, due to an improved braking system, the new trucks have a shorter braking distance.
Exteriors: Scania has given sun visors a miss in the new trucks in order to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance. Also, spotlights and fog lights are flush-mounted to reduce aerodynamic drag and LED lights provide greater intensity. Improvements in chassis reduce air drag plus the standard position of the front axle has been moved closer to the front that, apart from enhancing the ground clearance, positively impacts the degree of kneeling under heavy braking.
Interiors: Cabin interiors of this next-gen trucks redefine luxury. Adjustable driver’s seat offers a comfortable seating position and passenger seat comes with a swivelling base that lets occupants sit sideways, recline and stretch legs. The infotainment system with bluetooth connectivity consisting of a seven inch touch screen can be easily controlled through the steering wheel and voice activation. Also, a totally flat floor, cozy and flat beds, and storage facilities make the cabin interiors more functional and comfortable for long distance trips.
